Cardamom Coffee (or substitute)

Cardamom coffee (or substitute) is a delicious vegan recipe for any time of the day, and it is also nice to have as a low calorie dessert or with a dessert. It is a quick and easy recipe that takes only about five minutes to prepare. We prefer using the coffee substitute such as a roasted grain beverage to avoid the caffeine.

Cardamom Coffee (or substitute) Ingredients:

Per cup of brewed coffee:
1/8-1/4 tsp. Cardamom, ground
Stevia Extract, or other sweetener, to taste.

Per cup of boiling water:
1 tsp. Cafix, Roma, or Instant Coffee
1/8-1/4 tsp. Cardamom, ground
Stevia Extract, or other sweetener, to taste.

Per cup of cold water (for microwave):
1 tsp. Cafix, Roma, or Instant Coffee
1 Cardamom Seed Pod
Stevia Extract, or other sweetener, to taste.

Cooking Utensils:

Knives, Inexpensive Utility
Measuring Spoons

Preparation:

This recipe can be made several ways as listed in the ingredients section above, and every way is a treat.

If you desire to brew in the flavor with a pot or cup of brewed coffee, the cardamom can be added to the ground coffee before brewing. Since cardamom can be very strong, we suggest that you start with 1/2 tsp./8 cup pot, or no more than 1/8 tsp./cup.

If you desire only a single cup from already brewed coffee or hot water, add the cardamom and sweetener and allow to steep for about 3-4 minutes before drinking.

If you desire to heat the water in the cup in the microwave, we like to use a whole cardamom seed pod (partially split with a knife) with the Cafix, Roma, or Instant Coffee, and the sweetener mixed into the cold water in the cup before heating in the microwave.

Serve and Enjoy!
