Cardamom Seed – Photo and Description from Vegan Venue
Cardamon Seed is a vegan pantry seasoning ingredient that we use to flavor coffee and coffee substitutes by cracking a seed slightly and placing it in the cup.
This is a photo of cardamom seed pods. Cardamom is an expensive seasoning, second only to saffron, thus it is often adulterated. This is why it’s important to buy only pure Elettaria cardamomum. We have found that because the flavor of pure cardamom is so strong that a little goes a long way, and in the end is less expensive than adulterated varieties. Each seed pod contains three double rows of seeds (the bulge of the seeds can be seen on the pods in this photo). We use whole or split cardamom seed pods in beverages and in some curry recipes.
