Melon, Santa Claus or Christmas

Santa Claus melons look something like small watermelons, but have distinctive tan colored “stretch lines.”  It is best to purchase vine ripened Santa Claus melons, but they ripen well on the countertop.  When the ends yield to gentle pressure, the Santa Claus melon is ripe.  The inner flesh is a greenish color similar to that of a honeydew melon, but the flavor is sweeter than a honeydew’s.  We could not find any specific nutritional information for the Santa Claus melon.
