Apple Crisp – A Quick and Easy Recipe from Vegan Venue
Apple crisp is a delicious and easy to prepare vegan treat for breakfast or dessert. This recipe will make two to six servings, depending on your appetite, and takes about 10 minutes to prepare and about 10 minutes to cook in a microwave oven, which we do.
Apple Crisp Ingredients:
3 cups Apples, sliced and cut
1 cup Rolled Oats
One cup Raisins
1/2 cup Sunflower Seeds, raw, hulled
1/2 cup Nuts (Walnuts, Cashews, Pecans or Almonds), shelled, raw
One tsp. Cinnamon (or more to taste)
Cooking Utensils and Equipment:
Dish, Glass Baking OR
Dish, Small Ceramic Baking
Knives, Inexpensive Utility
Measuring Cups, Dry
Measuring Spoons
Microwave Oven
Spoons, Large Cooking
Apple Crisp Preparation:
Wash and clean the apples. Cut into eighths from top to bottom. Remove the core portion of the apple from each slice and cut each slice into 1/4 inch pieces, and place in a covered glass or ceramic baking dish. Add the cinnamon, raisins, and rolled oats, and mix well.
Cook in a microwave oven on “high” for 5 minutes; mix again after 5 minutes. Add the nuts and sunflower seeds, mix again, cover, and cook for another 5 minutes.
Or, bake in a preheated (350º F.) conventional oven for 20 minutes. After about 10 minutes, add the sunflower seeds and nuts and mix well.
If you desire a crispier apple crisp, leave the cover off the baking dish for the last few minutes of cooking time.
Serve and enjoy!
We sometimes make a larger batch, and store the leftovers in a covered dish or container so there is some left for the following day, and we just need to warn it up in the microwave oven. We also like it cold as a snack.
