Lettuce, Oak is an artisan variety that we occasionally buy to all to our daily salad. See more about it below.
More About Oak Lettuce:
We first encountered this variety of lettuce in our local supermarket as part of a 4-pack of petite lettuce from Artisan®. Oak lettuce grows in broad loose heads with ruffled leaves. It has a soft full texture with an enjoyable flavor, which makes a nice addition to salads. It also comes in a red variety. We could not find any specific nutritional information for for this variety of lettuce, other than that a 3-oz. serving provides: 10 calories, 2 grams of carbohydrate (less than 1 gram of which is fiber), 1 gram of protein, provides 100% of daily vitamin A, 10% vitamin C, 2% calcium, and 4% iron.

Some background information:
Over the years, people have been asking us, “What do vegans eat?” This is probably because they first think about a flesh product as the main meal. After that they then think about everything else as a side dish. So, we began publishing the huge variety of plant foods that are available for us to eat in this section of our web site. Additionally, we are always on the lookout for something new to add to our collection. This way we can experiment with to incorporate into our meals. We have also found that eating mostly unprocessed plant foods make us much more healthy. It’s a great way to live and our foods provide almost all of our vitamins.
