Lettuce, Tango Red

Lettuce, Tango Red seems to be a newer variety of lettuce, which is very good, but we have not seen it being sold separately. See more about it below.

More About Red Tango Lettuce:

We first encountered red tango lettuce in our local supermarket as part of a 4-pack of petite lettuce varieties from Artisan®. This lettuce has a somewhat strong and spicy flavor, which makes a nice addition to salads, as well as adding some color. It also comes in a green variety. The only drawback with this lettuce is that it is about twice as expensive as other varieties, so we only use it occasionally as a treat.

We could not find any specific nutritional information for red tango lettuce, other than that a 3-oz. serving provides: 10 calories, 2 grams of carbohydrate (less than 1 gram of which is fiber), 1 gram of protein, provides 100% of daily vitamin A, 10% vitamin C, 2% calcium, and 4% iron.

Some background information:

Over the years, people have been asking us, “What do vegans eat?” This is probably because they first think about a flesh product as the main meal. After that they then think about everything else as a side dish. So, we began publishing the huge variety of plant foods that are available for us to eat in this section of our web site. Additionally, we are always on the lookout for something new to add to our collection. This way we can experiment with to incorporate into our meals. We have also found that eating mostly unprocessed plant foods make us much more healthy. It’s a great way to live and our foods provide almost all of our vitamins.
